Photo Tour of the Unoffice

And now, for your viewing pleasure, a photo tour of our humble Unoffice (pictures taken by the multi-talented photographer extraordinaire, Kelsey!)

View of the Unoffice from the hallway: (note April and Dana hard at work, yet taking the time to smile for the camera)

  • As a professionally trained photographer (that is, trained by a professional, not being one myself. sort of.) the picture of kelsey at work caught my eye. Heres why.

    1. First of all, its a candid shot, which shows the subject in its natural environment, and not a posed fake smile picture, which is a stylistic prefrence of mine. In fact shes not smiling at all. I prefer to avoid smiling in my work.

    2. The image is composed well, with the focal point of the subject (in this case the head) is aligned along the "third lines". It is also what i like to call an "extreme thirds" composure, where the subject is more than slightly off center, another stylistic prefrence of mine.

    3. The light from the window softens and brightens the subject, bringing the viewers attention to the right place, plus it adds an emotional/artistic element to the image.

the other ones were ok too...

  • It seems that April is the favorite in the office, since she gets a chair with a fancy pattern, and a flat panel monitor. Its like the sprint commercial where the new girl in the class gets the awesome art set and the other kids have broken crayons.

  • Wow, I didn't think my picture deserved such acclaim. I just picked up the camera, aimed, snapped a shot, and put it down quite innocently. Perhaps there is a lurking photographer in me yet.....

On cursory glance, April would appear to be the favorite, yes. However, the flowery chair was given to April by Kelsey, who sacrificed the prettiness of the pattern in order to make our new co-worker feel at home. The flat-screen monitor was once mine, and, though I miss it dearly, I am able to seek comfort from the nifty "webmaster" label that adorns my gargantuan eMac. Do not let that trick you into thinking that I am the webmaster, for I am not. My eMac was also inherited. Remember: sharing means caring!
